This has been an issue that's been percolating for a few years now. What most really dont want is a HARECORE crackdown on the illegal streaming which is entirely possible in the kinds of ways they've blocked The Pirate Bay in whole countries. Indeed it eventually becomes an ultimate fail, but not without doing significant damage to the internet and privacy rights.
Yet, every October & November, we see crackdowns of torrent, fle locker sites and streaming sites as if it's a yearly event for the last several years now.
As if to say, look we've done SOMETHING (isps) and then they go back to sleep for most of the year again.
As far as the hardware is concerned most of the cheap android boxes don't work very well, while some of the more expensive models are becoming full fledged mini PC's. Most of the bad actors/sellers are on EBAY trying to revive the "pirate" bizness of old.. FWIW, the cable companies won't let that happen without striking back eventually. You already see this with sports/porn content providers & PPV live events content owners fighting back & fighting mad ( as if to say the line must be drawn at THEIR contetnt as if it were GOLD more worthy of protection than first run movie distributed on TPB).
Nevertheless, just you watch.. once GIGABIT internet hits major cities enmasse (at affordable prices) there will be bigger crackdowns of streaming "pirated" content the way they go after torrents today. One shoe won't drop without the other..
