Thanks for the response. You obviously know a lot about this stuff! I tried to read all through that great "top 10 burner shoot-out", but it was mostly Greek to me (nothing like graphs and charts to make you realize how clueless you really are, LOL).
I use only Verbatim DVD-R 16X, but burn at 8x, sometimes 4x. I have used probably every DVD burning program suggested, but am now using IdealDVDcopy, which so far, has been the most reliable, at least in my case.
I'm not exactly sure what is meant by better scanners vs burners being a matter of choice. Isn't there a burner that can do both? All I want is to end up with a good copy, and few or no coasters, which I assume is everybody's end goal.
If I were your best friend or a relative (one you liked, LOL), and I came to you and said "Bud, I need a new DVD burner, a really good one, new or used. I'm really confused by everything I am hearing, You really know about this stuff, which one would you tell me to buy?"
That's kind of where I'm at. If your only burner bit the dust, what one would you replace it with if you had to go out and buy one? (New or used.)
I'm not trying to be lazy about this, but I have been all over the site trying to find out what I need to know for days now, and I am more confused than ever.
Surely there has to be one or two that everybody agrees on. Any ideas?
