We’ve just posted the following news: KickAssTorrents even harder to shutdown, now available on Tor network[newsimage]http://www.myce.com/wp-content/images_posts/2015/02/myce-kickass-torrents-logo-95x75.png[/newsimage]

The popular torrent download site KickAssTorrents, which is normally available at kat.cr, can now also be reached using the Tor browser. By also making the site available on the Tor network, the site has a backup location and becomes available to users for whom the site is normally blocked.

Sure, I find that quite natural that they enter the dark web as it is in the nature of the site. While TOR is considered a slower network and thus has been a question of where you are going and what you are going to do, reports so far is that the darkweb .onion address for KickAss Torrents is working at great speed.
The more people that enter DarkWeb, the greater the speed meaning the more popular sites that get a darkweb address, the more users enters it as well and that will benefit all…
Part of the crew, part of the ship?

If you don’t want to use Tor, just add ‘.to’ the end of the .onion address and the Tor2Web proxy will open it (at this time of checking).

A quick heads-up for anyone reading this: the TOR network is NOT meant for bittorrent filesharing. If you try to use bittorrent over TOR, not only will you be unable to do so, but you will also slow the entire network down for everybody, hence the part of the article that reads:

While the site is available on Tor, torrent downloads still go through the regular internet. This means downloading from KickAssTorrents, is not anonymous, for that e.g. a VPN is still required.
In other words, KAT can’t allow downloading over TOR, because it’s technologically impossible. That, essentially, is where VPNs have the advantage.

So, the moral of this comment is: don’t try to use bittorrent over TOR. Just don’t. This probably goes for other peer-to-peer networks as well. If BitTorrent doesn’t work, I doubt Gnutella, eDonkey, or whatever will.
