Hi,

I have recently bought a brand new Sony DVD / CD burner and every time i start to burn a CD it comes up with an error. Firstly i thought it could be a problem with Nero, so i uninstalled it and then installed a new version, but the problem is still there.

I have included the log of the error below.

Please could someone help me to fix this problem?

Thanks.

This type of error usually means the drive cannot recognise the media ID of the discs you’re using. What brand are they?

#3

Correct. :iagree: :iagree:

#4

The Disc brand that i have used is ‘Imation’ and ‘Tesco’.

What disc brand would you suggest i used?

Thanks.

Last possible write address on media: 366220 ( 81:24.70)

Is Nero set to overburn CDs as this is unusual, at least I’ve never seen it before. Maybe the Sony G170 will automatically overburn.

I’d never touch Tesco media but I’d recommend Verbatim both for CD-R & DVD.

#6

This time i have burned on a Memorex branded CD-R, and it has come up with a ‘Invalid Block Address’ Error.

Please can someone help me to sort these problems out as it is getting rather annoying! :frowning:

My comments about Tesco media applies to Memorex media - it’s not worth the trouble.

And try slowing down the burn speed like to 24x for data discs & 16x for audio. This is always true but especially so when you get these sort of problems with crappy media.

#8

Free physical memory: 98MB (101004kB)
Memory in use : 80 %

Free physical memory: 147MB (151156kB)
Memory in use : 71 %

This is both no good.

And:

16:21:47 #5 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 306
Last possible write address on media: 366220 ( 81:24.70)
Last address to be written: 351146 ( 78:03.71)

16:21:47 #6 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 318
Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD DVD)

Try burning slower as suggested before.

#9

$hit media does this :iagree:
Burning at a much lower speed may fix the issue, but I doubt it.
The Leadin & leadouts are apparently written at a very low speed compared to the data area … but from the above logs, it doesn’t even get to that.
