Guys,

I currently have a Pioneer 106 which I have had for a weeks now. Now Plextor just launched the 708A and it is available locally...Do you think I should return/sell the 106 and get the 708A? I have had no problems with the 106, I just want to be future proof and have the latest and greatest technology.

Thanks,

The pioneer is a very good drive and offers very good media compatibility and write quality.

The plextor have a bit worse media compatiblity and write quality, but this is most likely fixed by an firmware upgrade.

It’s a difficult situation, I would probably kept the pioneer and waited for newer and better drives to show up as several manufacturers is readying their 8X woiters.
