Keep Copy Protection Intact?

Is there any way at all that you could copy a CD/DVD without disabling the copy protection, i.e. having the protection on the backup too.

Is there any software or machinery out there that can do this?

EDIT: I have found some information on Wikipedia talking about backing up PS1 games, it says “Some companies (notably Datel) did manage to produce discs that booted on unmodified retail units, but this required special equipment and can only be done with “pressed” discs” So what “special equipment” was this, and is it available to consumers?
If you are refering to PS 1+2 media: no, there isn’t

As debro mentioned in this thread of yours:

Check the technical forums for more details on PS1/PS2 disc protections

All needed (& unneeded ;)) information can be found in these threads:

Thank you. You say that this cannot be done with PlayStation discs, so what about movies, music etc?
…so what about movies, music etc?
DVD/BD movies - no
Music CDs - in some cases, depending on protection and hardware
Software CD - in some cases, depending on protection and hardware
Software DVD - burned backups generally not possible, protection can only be emulated
