has anybody been having any problems with the JVC branded Taiyo Yuden?
I’d appreciate any feedback thanks

First off Welcome to the forum fredrose11

The quality seems to have gone down just a little on the JVC branded discs
from what the quality of the unbranded TY discs are but nothing really drastic
nothing that I’ve noticed anyway. :disagree:

I bought 100 Yuden T02 Printables and had no problems.

Their “Blank DVD Quality Rankings” list is quite incorrect and outdated.

in their forum:

If it’s true, when i haven’t compatibility issues in writing/reading, quality if data written of TYG02 / TYG03 are better than MCC or MKM ?

That website has never been very accurate.

Taiyo and JVC in general seem to be less and less of a quality product, unfortunately.

What about these MIJ JVC/TY -R DLs? Anyone buy/try/scan them yet? I didn’t see a review for them.

$1ea for TY MIJ DLs seems pretty tempting.

^Virtually no one around here recommends -R DL media, even the Taiyo Yudens. They don’t seem to be very well supported in most computer drives.

I’m certainly not an expert on them, but from what I remember, they were intended for the Japanese home recorder market primarily.

I would buy them without hesitating…
Any normal dvd burner sold since2008 should handle these discs very well.

I wonder if TY will start making blue ray discs soon… burners have crashed the $100 price barrier, so there will be increasing demand for media.

They are already making BD-R media - but only the LTH ones and in a limited amount.
I do not think they will ever produce HTL, RE or DL BD-R media.

For the record, I’ve been using the JVC TY 8x +R media for a few months and I think they are still top-of-the-line media. Possibly a slight decrease in quality, but not much and still better than anything else including Verbs (the only media that comes close, assuming you can find MIS or MIT) IMHO. I also have some JVC TY DL media and although they are decent, I would still go with Verb DL media.
