Just made a Verbatim MCC004 coaster

For the first time since switching to only Verbatim media, I’ve made a coaster! Is this just a dodgy disk, or could it be something else?

It’s a TV series, and there’s no indication it’s an illegal download. So let’s wait and see, shall we?

#4

ok, I wasn’t sure…probably so then they might’ve saved it incorrectly to iso format…and was corrupted somehow during the save process. To OP did your iso play properly with isobuster or another software?

#5

Could the “Tracking Servo Failure” indicate a hardware fault?

Have you tried writing another disc? You could try a simulated write.

As Arachne said, it’s not a game it’s part of a TV series called “Still Game” that I have the originals for in front of me…

The ISO played fine when mounted with Daemon Tools, and a second attempt with the same media worked fine; I guess it must have been a dodgy disk.

Thanks for your thoughts

Unusual for Verbies, but it’s even happened to me once or twice

I bought these Verbatims, specially, on the advice of the manual for the crappy Matsushita DVD-RAM drive built in to my laptop, but they still only offered a max write speed of 2.4x :disagree:

I’ll get some Taiyo’s next; anyone know if there’s any difference between branded and unbranded Taiyo DVD+R, assuming that they are definitely manufactured by Taiyo and not just being passed off?

Ouch, that’s Matshita for you - I’d blame the drive rather than the disc in that case I think

As for branded vs. unbranded TYs…me personally, I’ve noticed no difference. I have branded (Verbatim) T02s, and also unbranded printable T02s, and both are excellent.

The unbranded printables were bought from SVP though, so I think it depends where you shop and how trustworthy they are.

Sorry, wires crossed; although I bought the Verbies to try and get that drive up to 8x, I was using them in my external LG drive as in my sig, when I made the coaster. I know what you mean about Matshita, though; it’s all in the name and they’re full of it!

Of course you burned them on the LG, you mentioned it in your original post - my fault, head’s not screwed on properly today

“It’s all in the name and they’re full of it” - hehe, that’s very true
