The laptop has one HDMI out, which I will use to go to my HDTV.

My old Sony audio receiver has only optical in and Coax in. Can I use this product to get optical out from my computer? http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Advantage-Micro-Sound-Card/dp/B0002ICGDY/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1260337195&sr=8-8

If I use the above product, will my audio receiver get true digital audio from my blu ray discs in my laptop using an optical cable? That just seems hard to believe, given the cheap price of the product. Thanks!

Something like this should work:

That’s too expensive. Will the thing that I linked to work?

Based on this link, it will pass DD 5.1 via the optical port…
