Hi there. Signals asked me to look in on this thread…
There could be a couple of causes.
I use Fab for encoding of ALL movies. I play these either on the PC’s or a variety of Media Players that I have around the house and I have never had the problem you are encountering.
Firstly I use the generic.xvid.avi. audicopy profile as I need to make my encodes compatible with the lowest common denominator which is a D-Link DSM 320.
I always choose a screen size that is 720 pixels wide for PAL content here in OZ and the X size can vary depending whether it is 16:9, 4:3 etc, etc. Common values that you see are 720 x 576, 720 x 400, 720 x 300.
I then always use 2 pass and set the bitrate at around 1100. I find the value that Fab calculates is too high and this could be where your movies are “stumbling”…
2 Pass does take more tim but I think the results are much better especially when I play the file through one of my hi-def players connected by HDMI to a hi-def TV.
Hope this helps.
I always use the same framerate as the original.
