Joliet & Mode 1 Greyed out "Help"

vbimport

#1

Hope someone has answers to this one.
I am running Nero 6.6.0.8 yes updated to try fix this unknown problem.
My Dvd writer is a Liton 832s

I was once able to write a dvd after I put the files through dvd decrypt and dvd shrink but now I go to do it and it just wont go, I have burnt so many coasters its no longer funny.

I select dvd video on nero and have NO option to select Mode 1 or joliet as its greyed out, no matter what I seem to do it doenst want to work, I have also tried different media and now I know thats not the problem.

Any answers?
Please help Im going nutty with this stupid thing!

@ justmates
Once you use DVDShrink to prep and save the files, you should be able to use Nero Express to burn the saved video files. Open ‘NeroExpress’ and select ‘dvd video files’. A window will appear with a ‘video ts’ file and an ‘audio ts’ file. Double click the ‘video ts’ file and it will open and be empty. Now click the ‘add’ button and a browser window opens. Find the file you saved in DVDShrink and drag-and-drop the entire folder that contains the video you wish to burn. The dragged folder should disappear, leaving its contents(*.vob, *.ifo, *.bup files) in the ‘video ts’ file window. Now you can select ‘next’ and burn away.
If this doesn’t help, can you post an error log of the failed burn? Save as a text file, then remove your serial number and post using the ‘manage attachments’ button in the ‘go advanced’ reply window.

Sorry to sound stupid but can you tell me how to copy the error message as I will do this and make a post here.
I have use the express option before with not a great deal of luck. Also used InstantCd and it gives me an access error, it doesnt even see my Liteon for some stupid reason
Thanks for your help, will try this option once again now.

That’s the way it should be for DVD video. There is only one mode for writing the DVD and DVD video will not have a Joliet file system.

Here is a copy of my error log, didnt even burn this time, at least I was getting a no stop lead in for god knows how long before hand before it killed the disk, I couldnt get past the lead in, now its worse.

Oh I also put Liteon firmware into it before this burn to see if it would correct things again.

Hope someone can help with this>>>

When this is all 0s, the firmware has no support that’s specific to this disc type (TDKG02 - 000000) and it has to use a generic writing strategy. Try a different brand of disc.

I assumed the problem might be media, however I have tried a number of different disc and all do the same in Nero, so it cant be ONLY a media problem.
I installed Apollo and it burn my dvd with NO problems at all last night also installed copytodvd and it worked pretty good too so Nero is up the shit somewhere???
Any other suggestions as to why nero wont burn.

Also installed roxio earlier and was given an error that my drive couldnt be found, I wonder if the drive is playing up?

Thanks for your help

#8

@ justmates
Try running the Nero registry checker and driver clean tool after removing the Roxio software. Roxio and Nero rarely play nice together.

#9

This option isnt going to work so not sure its even worth giving a try.
I had a complete format done on my computer a few days back, computer needed it as well as trying to correct a few problems.
So XP was a clean install, all I had on my system was the basic XP, dvd shrink, dvd decrypt and Nero and it was playing hell with the dvd, burns coasters even quicker now.
I did a Kprobe scan but no idea how to get the picture on here, odd that it writes DVDs in other software programs???
Surely things should be this complicated to get the stupid thing to work?

#10

I am having the same problem. I am using TY fuji discs which worked fine with the trial version of Nero but now I have paid for it and upgraded to the latest version - nothing but coasters.

#11

Can anyone tell me why when burning DVD-Video the disc title is checked for a Joliet name? I don’t see anywhere I can change the disc format setting and it’s always limiting me to 16 char disc names.

For what it’s worth here’s the way the log looks…
Iso document burn settings
------------------------------------------
Determine maximum speed : FALSE
Simulate : FALSE
Write : TRUE
Finalize CD : TRUE
Multisession : FALSE
Burning mode : DAO
Mode : 1
ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char)
Character set : ISO 9660
Joliet : TRUE
Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : TRUE
Allow more than 255 characters in path : TRUE
Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE

Joliet set to true and names at 11? where do I change this?
Write method is greyed out at DAO, i suspect this is correct for DVD…

#12

Is my problem because I’m running nero express? I thought I had bought burning rom, but I guess not…
