Snake oil. Just another variation on the SMH CD scam.

Who remembers the famous Tommorow’s World demo, where the perfectly produced CD could take considerable abuse and still play perfectly?

Any improvement in production will not alter the quality, it might increase the margin before it breaks down.

“Snake oil. Just another variation on the SMH CD scam.”

Yes, but just like Sony’s Audiophile quality memory cards, those with far more money than brains
will swear that they can hear the difference.

Stop mastering CDs with volume compressed to maximum loudness, so that we again have music with dynamic range like we had in the beginning. That’s something which will actually improve Audio CD quality rather than “more precise pits”!

IIRC Sony was interested in these dubious ways to scam customers into thinking they had PREMIUM products. Some idiot in the R&D department also tried making a PREMIUM portable media player walkman… WTH?!?
Cell phones have completely taken over that space… sony should be trying to get into the smart connected TV side of things… there is plenty of enthusiasm into plug-in mini computers for your HD & UHD smart tv sets.

All this technology does is improve a disc data technology and dubious at that… we need higher quality BLU RAY discs instead… Those 4 layer BDXLs need a dirt cheap production process so they can be mass produced and get into the hands of mainstream consumers and without all the crazy royalty fees to BLU ray consortium… which make the OEM printer companies look like saints.

DrageMester,
You are 100% correct. Audio quality has gone backwards since the 90s. Even MP3s can sound good if the dynamic range is not squashed. I have stopped buying music because of this reason. I wish a label was on the disc to tell the average RMS value. That way you would know if you are going to be wasting your money before you buy.
