I thought when I first bought my NEC-ND1100A that RW was the way to go, because you could rewrite... whats better than that? Wrong...
It has been, at least the 4x a bit of a trouble in my laptop drive. Also, the 2.4x even have a hard time reading in several desktop players. +R seems to be just fine.
I am going to be converting my collection slowly over to +R discs I think. Is Ritek, Ricoh still up there for quality? I'm thinking TDK and Fujifilm as those are offered at the local BestBuy. Memorex seems to be offered locally as well.
I am going to stick with my NEC ND-1100A until I can get a 4x dual layer drive later this summer/fall. I have no rush as long as the original dvds burn good.
Supposedly +R will last a lot longer than +RW ? If it's at least five years, then I'll be satisfied, because by then 600gig+ HDs will be out, Blu-ray discs, and newer technologies.
I was going to get a dual-layer sooner, but supposedly the discs are about the same compatability wise as RW? I don't want to have any read troubles... if that means sticking with single layer, only +R discs, then so be it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
