A Nero Info Tool problem is not the same as a DMA problem. It’s possible that when Intel Application Accelerator is installed that Nero Info Tool misses the DMA connection.

What is the connection shown in Device Manager with IAA installed for the drives on the secondary IDE cable?

If DMA doesn’t show in Device Manager either, I would uninstall Alcohol to see if it has an effect.

DMA doesn’t show in Device Manager and situation is same with or without Alcohol. But in IAA report DMA is enabled.Do I have to uninstal IAA…

DMA doesn’t show in Device Manager

Yes Sir thats right , with the use of IAA , this function in not available as manual setting in the Device Manager …

The IAA takes full control of this , and believe me it works fantastic …

But , the IAA 2.2 is the most stable version so far , so i would advice you to step down to it …

There is 3 versions of it … 2.2 & 2.22 & 2.3 , the 2.2 is the best .

Thanks a lot, my IAA is version 2.3 but now I’ll step to 2.2 and try what you say.I’m also interest which burning program you use with plextor 4012 and 4824 .
Thanks again

For audio riping i use Plextor tools .
For audio burning the Easy CD 5 platinum .
For data the latest Nero
And i have also the latest CloneCD , and Clony XXL (for the tricky stuff )

I’m also interest which burning program you use with plextor 4012 and 4824 .
I use:

For audio ripping: PlexTools and EAC
For data compilations: Nero Burning Rom
For protected data: CloneCD

I’ve also used DiscJuggler and Blindwrite Suite but the software mentioned above works best for me. I have no new protected games (SD2.80, SecuRom 4.80) so CloneCD still works fine.

Have the same problem, writer just goes from dma mode to pio, I just uninstall the ide, let win xp install it all
it goes back to dma, but for how long, when i have written like 10 cd’s the problem just starts again and i have to uninstaal again!!!
anyone has an answer for this???
Just pisses me off!!!

The problem described in this thread was not a DMA problem. The problem here is that DMA is not detected with Nero InfoTool when the Intel Application Accelerator (IAA) is installed (while it is enabled). Your problem (Windows XP setting the drive back to PIO mode) isn’t easily solved since there is no fully working solution. The best way to enable DMA again is to remove the appropriate IDE controller and reboot. There isn’t much else you can do. It’s a Windows XP problem and not a problem of your drive. Windows…

Had the same problem, installed win 2000 today, and I have written 150 cd’s today without a problem!!!

now, win 2k pro crashed all the time, reinstalled xp, and device manager changed my plextor from multi word dma-mode 2 to just ultra dma 2, now it all works great and it never changes back to pio, so just a clean install of winxp fixes the problem! If only compatibility with linux were better! Really like stable OS!!! Why can’t a billion-making company make an OS as stable as Linux???
