iTunes won't acknowledge my burner

Hello all,
I've recently installed an NEC 3540a burner and attempted a cd burn via iTunes and it says my burner isn't supported. I've tried apples patchburn but it appears to only work for macs. How can I get this to work. I wouldn't even attempt it but I have much music that is mpeg protected thanks to apple and I can't burn it to cd with anything else. Any ideas?

i saw a lot of similar problems on the net from other people without a fix. maybe apple knows and hasnt told anyone yet
