Hope this the right place to ask. I have been re-organizing my music on my computer. I use the latest version of iTunes, and iPods to listen to music.
I have two seperat har drive dedicated to music, one for just rock music and the other for other genres of music, jazz, techno, soundtracks etc...
I also have some folders with mp3's that are not part of a whole album (cd), just singles of songs I like.
Now what I would like to do is find a way to add to my iTunes library without messing up the way they are categorized. Let me explain better, right now all I have added to my iTunes library is my "Rock" folder, all the music in the rock folder are full albums, no singles, so it is pretty easy to use the iTunes view options to organize the music. For my headings I have selected
Name, Artist, Album, Track, Genre, Time, Year and date added. And of course when you click the "Album" header it changes from Album to Album by Artist, Album by Year. My favorite setting is Album by Artist that way all the artists albums are grouped together in a nice way, almost all by alphabetical way (just depends on the artist) since iTunes does not categorize by artist last name thus John Cougar is in the "J's" not the "C's" like he would be in a record store.
Okay now that I have gotten that out of the way here is the what I would like to do. Add my single mp3's to my main library as one group and not have them disrupt the organization. For instance if I add "Smokin In The Boys Room" by Brownsville Station, "Evil Ways" by Santana they will be next to each other in the main library not in the "B's" and "S's" by band or alphabetically by album.
All My single's I have tagged them by the album the came from originally.
I realize that there is probably not a way to do this but thought I would ask.
I do have play lists as well by genre and by the letter of the Band/Artist an "A" folder, "B" folder etc... I plan on making a play list of just "70's singles as well with only songs I like from the 70's thus my problem. If I find a new song I like from that era and add it to iTunes I want to find it easily and add to the play list.
Hope this all makes sense, I tried to explain exactly what I want to do the best I could.
