I'm new to this site and I've used this site many times in the past to answer some of my questions. However, now I have too many questions and so little time to research. There is so much new technology out there! Here are my questions as follows:
- Itunes-HD: I want to download some episodes from Itunes, but I chose to download them in HD format. However, I'm only limited to watching these movies on my PC. I want to transfer them to DVD and/or VCD. Let's assume that DRM doesn't exist for now, what do I do?
Here's what I have: I have Roxio 10, a television capable of 1080i, Tivo series2 (mpeg2 or 4 capable), JVC TH-C50 (divx, divx ultra, mpeg2, mpeg4 capable), bitrate calculator for Xvid, Gspot video, mediainfo, handbrake, tunebite (Audials One)- capable of 3gp, mpeg4, wmv7, wmv9, and xvid capable up to 2048kbs and/or vbr Q98. Oh, I also have snagit8 which has good video screen capture.
I've heard that Xvid is slightly better than wmv9 (not sure if my dvd player is capable of playing wmv9 or xvid yet...any other suggestions?
bitrates: I'm sure you've all heard this before, but I never really get a straight answer since I guess it's personal preference (I'm also picky), so anyone have any suggestions as far as bitrate to keep the video close to it's original beauty. I chose to download HD episodes so I have quality to work with, but I'm not sure if downscaling the movie to fit my screen or different resolutions is going to work properly, so I think I caused myself more headaches instead of downloading the SD versions. I believe that Itunes HD is 720p.
Since I have an HD television, one capable of 1080i and the other 1080p. Can I put HD content on a standard DVD or VCD and be able to watch it in that respective format? I don't think I have the capability to switch resolutions on my TVs, so I think any HD content played on my DVD player will be too large to fit on the screen.
Does anyone have problems with Roxio10. I've had nothing but problems working with it and it seems to crash a lot. It's very temperamental! Yes, I've reinstalled it and it is a purchased version, but I'm not happy with it so far.
Thanks in advance, I guess I have a lot to learn, so don't flame me too much. We all have to learn somewhere/sometime. Problem is that I don't have hours to dedicate to "trial and error" I just need a tutorial or a general setup that works most of the time.
