Is UDMA 2 enough?

I was looking at the IDE settings on my NEC 3500 AG and it’s set at UDMA 2. Is that high enough? I can’t select any of ther higher modes, what would be causing that? Could an older cable be the culprit?

The only reason I am asking is because when I go to back up my DVD’s and a burn starts with DVD Decryptor the Buffer and Device Buffer drop a lot during the process. I’ve never had a failed burn but it looks like it’s awful close to happening.

UDMA 2 is the highest you can set with NEC drives.
