Is this scan for verbatim dvd-r 8x fine?

is this scan of verbatim dvd-r 8x fine as the numbers on the top graph are going in 60-80’s ! but i notice the green stuff on the bottom window is not much as when i scanned my burned sony! (they are pif errors? and the top ones are PIE errors?)

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?goto=lastpost&t=78112 => scan of the sony i burned

however the quality score is same (would like to know how quality score is being set or choosen) i have no problems reading the disc (there is data on it , avi files)

should i continue using verbatim or sony or both? (i`m archeiving my data and storing them)

The scan looks good, PIF levels are the main concern, PI levels are not a big deal. The PIF levels, on the bottom, determine the ‘Quality score’ that your scan gets, they are based off of the maximum PIF level recorded. Your PI levels aren’t a problem, lower is better but they could be ten times that level and your disc would still be fine just as long as the PIF levels are ok. Both scans are fine, although I would probably say this is a better burn despite having higher PI levels as the PIF total is very low on this.

Long story short, both are nice burns.

The PIEs are a little high (esp) compared to the SONY scans you did, but the PIFs are beautiful. I’ve found that’s fairly typical for Verbatim MCC 02RG20 media; not my favourite media but nothing actually wrong with it, either.

okay thanks

the spindle i have says ‘verbatim corp , asia pacific, 2004’

this seems like an old stock but working good may be thats why causing a lil higher PIE
