A friend’s going to build me an amd 64 bit 3000+ system with 1GB of ddr 400 ram. the power supply’s 400 watts with a tower and i’m not sure what kind of motherboard (but it suppose to be able to hold 4gigs of ram). No hdd or video card (since i got some already laying around) for $400. Should I take the offer? I trust the guy but if I can get a comparable P4 system for less, i don’t want to pay the extra money.
if the mobo is MSI K8N NEO 2 PLATINUM then go for it
Price the parts online yourself and then you will know if it is a good deal or not.
ask about an exact list of parts (model #s) and whether they’ll be new or used, then do as DJMind said and price it out yourself. if the difference (i assume he’ll want to make at least a little money off the deal) is worth having someone else (hopefully experienced) build you a machine…then go for it. just remember, you’ll most likely have to be your own tech support most of the time.
