I will mostly use the drive and media for data backups and an occasional home movie. I would prefer retail so i will not have to buy some expensive software for playback. I also would like to be to scan my discs.

The Pioneer cannot scan Blu-Rays, so take the LiteOn iHBS312, ist´s a good burner, especially for the Panasonic BD-R25 4x and even for the Sony BD-R25 4x, if they have a RITEK-MID, which is not unlikely.
buy the pio for burning and the liteon for ripping/scanning you can never have to many burners
What is the MID of the Panasonic BD-R?
[QUOTE=NBK;2715234]What is the MID of the Panasonic BD-R?
MEI-T02-001 is what they show in the pic
THanks for the advice!!!
I am going to go with the Liteon BD Burner with Panasonic BD-Rs by March. The Pioneer will have to wait until i have the money. I will likely buy WinDVD too…later.
