Is there something wrong with my 811S?

Im using HSOK firmware on the burner, on RicohJPNR01

Here is a burn @ 4x, and KProbe reading @ 4x

And here is a burn @ 8x on Ricoh’s also

Please post your pictures in .png or in .jpg. Look at the size of them.

Sorry, I’m too busy to wait for the image loading :frowning:

Yes use png format.

Also scan at 4x with 8 ECC

Many 811s seem to have a problem using kprobe. I saw a HUGE difference in my disk between my 811 and my 812. Dont be surprised when you get PI between 300-800 or higher when you set your setting to 4x 8 ECC.

Please read here and here before posting.

on my 811 i get spikes when i burn at 8x on ricoh r01. when i burn @ 4x they are “acceptable”

when i kprobe the same disc on my 811s hs0p and my 411 fs0f the 411 shows half to 2/3rds less errors. not sure why.

i have also found differences between spindles and even discs on the same spindle. i just got 200 ritek r02s for $80 to try and see if they burn any better.

on the images you may want to repost them as pngs and edit your post above. they are almost a meg in size, which for dialup folks is 3-4 minutes for each image to load.

the png’s format will be 15-20 k in size and load very quickly.
when saving in kprobe it defaults to bmp for some strange reason but you can change the format in the drop down box below the filename.

you need to have a staples and an officemax near you to take advantage : hard forums hot deals

Ok, images are fixed now. They are jpegs about 120k each. here is a scan on the 4x burned media with the correct settings. Does anyone know why it jumps like mad at the end???

Thank you for fixing images.

I don´t know the brand of your media, so it´s impossible to speculate about the raise of errors @ end of the disk.
Normally this is due to media quality.

Use this tool to get full mediacode.

i have a ton of ricohjpnr01 and if burned @4x they are pretty nice. i will post a scan of mine in a second. my firmware is HS0P. if i burn them @8x they normally have spikes which look like this

the only time i have seen problems playing back is when there is a high PO. PI spec is 280 PO is 32. on my discs i have seen PI as high as 700 that plays fine in apex and other players as long as the PO is in spec.

you may want to try png. png is an even smaller format that will give you 15-20K files with better quality.

here is an 8x burn i did on same media.

you can see the PI goes way up in the 6x range (4%-30%) and then calms down again in the 8x range (30%-finish).

one thing i really wish is that they would make this drive either a CLV 8x since it does 4x and slower that way. or if that is not possible then CAV rather than this zone crap. every zone drive i had in cds (benq and a cast of losers) did a crappy job of writing.

With THIS tool from code65536, they even burn good @ 8X speed.

Here is one of my “worse” burns with this media.
Burned with 411S fw FS0J @4X.
Scaned with fw FS0F (as always).

Set at max

This is my results with a similar situation. I burn at 8x always. Also when I test the disks with Kprobe I cannot use a static speed or I get terrible results. Does anyone know why? This is an external drive, running on the firewire connection.
