I have a old liteon hehe dead from a overclock firmware :confused:

its been silling for months hehe and i just havent got round to throwing it in the bin it was only 2 months old when it died

i have tryed the current pflash but its is so much crap i cant stand it it is no where near as good as mtkflash for recovery

mine just sits there doing a atpi reset software reset duz that a few times and erm thats it then it gives me a error lol

i ws just wondering if there was a beter recovery for my 12101b (121032) liteonā€¦

hehe if i could fix this it would be great but i think i have tryed everything the pin trick the lot ā€¦ :confused: :confused:

Look, I recall your trouble with that -
at that time I was about to help you but as fas as I remember you just bought a new drive, so I dropped it.

ok mate i got the files !!!

from what you sead i place those files on a floppy i boot into dos with my dos floppy then i place the floppy in with te files on then do

a:/p.bat and it should flash the drive ?

though i dont get what this means

pflash %1.bin /all /np

thats whats writen in the bat file whats the %1.bin mean lol ?
and what ide do i put it on ? pm sm ss ps ?

When in DOS you gotta type only a:\p.bat

pflash ls38.bin /sm /all /np -
this is whatā€™s actually written in p.bat, which does its job for you automatically.

sm <- as you can see it , you gotta set your drive (as itā€™s currently written in p.bat ) as Secondary Master.
But in case if e.g your drive is already set as PS or SS , all you gotta do is to change the value in p.bat accordingly to /ps/ or /ss/ . Got it ?

m8, donā€™t dig it too deep. Just do as I said and donā€™t forget to set the jumper right.

ok mate i still have the drive pluged in in Secondery master with it disabled in the bios so i could get in here lol

Trying to recover the drive with atapi soft reset
Status port is 0xFF80

it duz that a few times then said this

inquiry + atapi soft reset fail
Error in atapi Command :confused:

It really doesnt matter what version you have.

You have to type it a:\p.bat but not a:/p.bat

Just take it easy and check the diskette, the jumper and all the neccessary details. Try different versions and stuff.
Itā€™s gotta be working, 'cos that was how I once revived my 12101B.

Try these:

  1. Reset all BIOS options to DEFAULT.
  2. Boot into DOS (Working from a FAT partition on your HDD would be faster than from a floppy)
  3. Follow the sequence of actions specified by BoSkin.

i cant get into dos without a floppy im running winxp pro with sp1

only think i didnt try that yous ead was reseting the bios to default settings or optimal settings !!

that could work but i wont do enything till you can explaine to me a little more hehe :slight_smile:

its like at the moment when i flash it well atempt to flash it i get a Query + atapi command errorā€¦

its like its strugling to find the drive if you no what i mean ā€¦
do you have eny other bios clues as it could be a bios problem though i can flashmy dvdrom 163 and liteon 48x the way it is at the moment with mtkflash so there for im a little optamistic about it being a bios prob :confused:

found some information that may be of some use :confused:

Drive 12101b
Manufacture Date : march 2001

opened it up and sniffing about for info and i noticed the word

ls38 writen on aa bit a sticky paper on top of the bios if that makes sence lol

so i think my original bios that came with is was LS38.bin

Booting into DOS will help in terms of faster operation.

You can boot into DOS even in XP. You canā€™t access the HDD if all your partitions are NTFS. You might want to convert an existing NTFS partition into FAT16/32

Resetting BIOS to default/factory settings will ensure that any changes you have made will be ignored. Usually, playing around with BIOS is not advised unless one knows what to change. Set to default option and then try the jumper trick etc.

i keep getting a error pop-up tab everytime i shut down my outlook express in winxp sp1 the error message is :
MSIMN.EXE - Aplication error : the instruction at ā€œ0x77f5210bā€ refrenced membery at ā€œ0x007f4bacā€ the membery could not be writen ? click on to terminate the program

i dont no whhat that could be ? post back if it could have enything to do with it ? the 1st refrence looks fimilure :5210b ?
