Is there a good utility for testing burned DVDs?

I’ve been using Nero for at least a year now, and used the Nero Toolkit’s ScanDisc file test and surface scan to test CDs and DVDs after burning, to make sure there are no errors.

I just updated to the newest version of Nero, and now the ScanDisc function no longer works. It just shuts down.

Is there another utility (it doesn’t have to be free, I’d be glad to buy it if it’s reliable and easy to use) that’s good for checking the quality of burned DVDs and CDs?

Just to clarify, I’m not trying to compare the DVD files with the original files on my hard drive. I just want to run a file test and surface scan similar to Nero’s ScanDisc.

FWIW, I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of Nero, but that did not solve the problem.

You can try CD Check. It doesn’t, I don’t think, do a surface check, just readability, but it is fairly reliable to uncover problems.
