I have the BDR-208DBK, I know it’s ripped locked for BD’s but what about dvd’s ? thanks

#2

Well, you could put a pressed DVD movie in the drive and test it…

#3

I don’t have that kind of software to rip yet. Can you please just tell me.

#4

Just do a “Benchmark” test with Nero CD-DVD Speed.

#5

I tested on mine, seems like both

#6

thanks

I have the BDR-208DBK and it has no riplock at all. It’s the main reason I purchased it.

#8

I was considering buying this drive, but a rip lock will kill it for me, so which is it??

Mine is definitely NOT riplocked. Stock drive right out of the packaging from Amazon.com.

Hi,

I bought a Pioneer BDR-208EBK which is detected in my PC as BDR-208M. Has this drive riplock? If yes, how can I get rid of it?

We have a variety of 2208 retail kits (M’s or U’s) and 208DBKs and, on some DVDs, they’re stuck reading at slowest-possible speeds, while others run as fast as any other drive’s read ability. It’s a pain, yes, but the burn quality remains the ultimate objective so I’ll keep loading up with Pioneers.

I hadn’t done BluRay burner shopping in a while, but New Egg only as 14 models available - Pioneer’s twosome, LG has 5 and everyone else has 1 or 2 at most. No more LiteOns… amazing. “Git 'em while they’re hot-!”
