Is slim (laptop) drive good for testing?

I have Pioneer 111D in my Desktop. It is not a good quality tester. I have also a notebook with DWD-RW Sony DW-Q520A (OEM LiteOn). I can even use Kprobe on Sony. Is it a good idea to use Sony for testing DVD quality?

I think both are not good scanners, neither your Pio nor your laptop drive.
But I might be wrong.

At least I can scan DL media. Pio cannot scan DL. Here is an example of MKM 003 scan. Recorded by Pioneer 111D (1.29) at 4x.
