I received my brothers old dvd+rw about a year ago… I use to burn dvd’s with it but not recently. i decided to today and dvd+r discs, and dvd+r in nero all fail during the burning process. Either saying " focus \ tracking error, Or illegal disc. What is wrong with it??? some say a thing called firmware can update it???

Are you using crap discs, for one thing?

Otherwise you’ll get better advice if you post this in the PC burner section of CD Freaks, rather than the standalone DVD recorder area here.

Better make it clear whether your machine is a Ricoh or a Traxdata unit.

(where is admin when you need them!)
