Is my dvd burner dying

I have an I/O Magic that doesn’t want to open up without the dreaded paperclip. It does open if there is a disk in the drive.
( I heard at the time of purchase the Benq manufactured the I/O MAGICS)

I haven’t had any complaints about burning anything or reading, until last week, I burned 2 disks with 24 episodes each, avi of one of my favorite TV series.

NOW, it seems that it either didn’t burn them properly or it won’t even read its own job. The .avi are on the disk but it will not read them smoothly if at all.

EDIT> I just popped a blank in and now the drive won’t stop spinning. I think it is time for this to go to rest.
Just not sure about the Memorex. I don’t like Memorex disks, but not sure who makes this one.

The disks play in my Lite-On Recorder.

Not sure if it is just time to trash it, or not.
Hubby went to Staples Office Supply and brought home a Memorex UDMA 33.

Who even makes this and is it worth keeping?

thanks

Memorex are low grade media these days.

Verbatim, TY, some Sony and Ricoh are better media.
