Is Motherboad Monitor any good?

Hi everyone I downloaded motherboard monitor to keep track of my cpu temp, but not sure how accurate it really is, is it any better than aida 32? What should be the ideal temp for 2.4ghz P4 H.T. aida says it is at 43 C while motherboard monitor says its 48 whose right?

Onboard temp monitors are known to be very inaccurate.

I have the exact same setup as a friend and his motherboard reports 60C while mine reports 35C.

Well BIOS updates can do wonders…

But Ssseth is right: on board thermometers are crap… a former system of mine was always complaining to be running at 120C (bit hot for a fully stable system, isn’t it?) and this system is cold as ice (25-30 C) and reports to be around 70…

One big advantage of MBM is that you can choose which available diode you want to use for any given temp, and you can add an adjustment factor.

But there’s still no good alternative to a thermal probe tucked under your CPU cooler, or anywhere else.
