Mitsui and Kodak both had reputation had quality CD-R media. Now with Kodak out of CD-R business, is Mitsui the king in reliability?
Taiyo Yuden always was the king of quality, although Mitsui was great as well. The Mitsui media sold in Europe today is nothing like their old stuff (MAM-E is the label). Mitsui sold their European factory in France to an italian firm (CSI) last year, and I haven’t seen “made in Japan” Mitsui discs (both CD and DVD) for ages. I don’t know if the situation in North America or even Asia is similar, but one thing is for sure: Mitsui Toatsu is not well known for producing high quality DVD media at least.
If you want highest quality media (both CD and DVD), go for TY. The prices have dropped considerably also.
