Is it safe to clean CDR's with soap and water?

Before burning, I would like to clean my blank CDRs with dish soap and warm water (in order to remove the mold release compound).

Can this damage the CDR?

If it is safe, any particular recommendations for a gentle, but effective, low residue dish soap?

I have heard of it being done but I prefer this:

Sorry bad link. try this

What is the mold release compound that you want to remove, and what is its purpose? Why do you want to remove it?

I don’t know if the washing could hurt the CD-Rs. Some CD-Rs could probably take the washing better than others.

I believe it is something designed to make the CD® not stick to the manufacturing equipment.

I wouldn’t recommend washing them,as certain soaps leave a residue,and in that
respect your cd would be better off ‘dirty’
