Is it different?

Between

VERBATIM GENERIC 4.7GB 8X DVD-R Disc - OEM

and

VERBATIM 4.7GB 8X DVD-R Disc - Retail

?

In terms of media quality, dvd-player compatibility and the manufacturer code ?

Thanks

Same media code (MCC02RG20).

I wish NewEgg, and any others, would stop calling anything “Generic Verbatim”, cause there’s no such thing. :a Anyway, all MCC is the same, given that it’s made in the same place, but you won’t know that till you get it. MCC02RG20 made in Taiwan will not be the same as made in India, although it should be similar in quality. Then there’s MCC made by Prodisc and MCC made by CMC, both from Taiwan, and you can’t tell the difference till you see it up close.

Several folks have reported good results with the NewEgg “generic”, it seems like a decent value if you don’t want to spend a few extra dollars for TY.

TY is better on dvd home players ?

They’re really just “OEM” discs. They lack the fancy Verbatim packaging and they have shiny silver tops. I have a some “OEM” Verbatim MCC02RG20 myself, and they scan just like real Verbatims.
