I have mine set up so it’s permanently at the left.
If you right click in the top margin in IE9 you can turn on the menu bar which will give you File, edit, view, favorites, tools & help all on the top left.
Frankly when on the rare occasion that I actually use the little “star” icon top right it works fine for me…
But I use the favorites bar constantly, and several of the items in my favortites bar items are in fact “folders” that have more choices inside them
Once you get past the "it’s new therefore I hate it"
or the “I hate it because it’s Microsoft” it’s actually a better browsers than any of the others.
And anyone who judges a browser by trying it for less than a full week
is [I]fool[/I]ing themselves into believing that they really “tried it”.
