Internal dvdwriter to a laptop?

Does anyone knows if it is possible to connect an internal dvdwriter (pioneer A05) to a laptop. This because I’m going to another country for some month’s and I can only take my laptop with me.

Is there some device to make IDE to USB or so…

Thanks in advance!

Yes it is possible. There are external housings that support IDE to USB or IDE to firewire.

Here’s a very nice one (supports both USB2.0 and FireWire!)…

Thanks for the info! I’ll check it out!

Links not working :frowning:

Apparently theres a thread called “External Housings” in the “Recording Hardware” section, but I couldn’t find it myself (easily :stuck_out_tongue: )

I have used one manufactured by a company called ViPower which worked fine with an internal CD-RW< but never tried it with a DVD writer. I guess they should work just as well, so long as it’s using a USB2.0 or Firewire connection (NOT USb1.0 which is far too slow)
