[qanda]This thread is about the Samsung TS-H352A 16xDVD, 48xCD-R Drive Int EIDE Retail. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Hi all,I need help trying to install an internal disk drive to a laptop. I recently bought an IDE to USB adapter with a power supply. I connected all of it, including to my laptop, but all the disk drive does is make a noise and blinks every 5 seconds. Does anyone know what to do? It is a Samsung DVD-Rom Drive TS-H352A IDE.
Hi and Welcome!
most IDE/USB adapters require to have the drive's jumper either in Master or (sometimes) in Cable Select setting. Please check the manual of your adapter about that.
Yeah, the manual that came with it states that the driver should be set to Master. I'm not sure what that is or how to do that.
A small plastic jumper - lets you jump between 2 pins in the back if the drive - a key can be found someplace on the drive.
Ok, i set the drive to master but my laptop still does not detect the drive. Am I suppose to install something that creates another drive on my computer? Thanks
