I need some help, please. I have a limited amount of computer knowledge, so the more layman’s terms you can use, the better.
I replaced my old DVD burner with a Samsung last night. Both are IDE drives; there is only the one drive on the ribbon cable. After I finished installing and tried to boot up, there was apparently a problem recognizing the drive, and I was asked to insert a system disk, which I didn’t have at the time, so I could go no further.
I rebooted a couple of times with no success, so I disconnected the drive and it booted just fine after that. Then, my PC started acting weird and sluggish, and I got the blue screen. I shut down, reconnected the drive, and rebooted, and this time it started up fine and the drive was recognized. I even burned a few DVDs. However, I am still getting the blue screen periodically. What am I missing? The drive is set to “master” on the back. I am running XP. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thank you very much,
Mike
