Install hard drive

I have an extra 500G Seagate Hd from a junked computer, works fine, (used it as an external on another computer , I am trying to replace 160G Hd on one of my computers. I formatted the drive installed it, went into Bios, did the Auto detect and rebooted, I get this message.“Verifying Dmi Pool Data”. nothing follows, can anyone help, I don’t know what steps I am missing. T.I.A.

Is it an IDE drive? Did you check if jumpers are set correctly? :slight_smile:

Try going into BIOS and find a setting like ‘Reset Configuration Data’ or ‘Reset DMI Pool Data’. The wording will depend on your BIOS. Clearing this data has helped me a few times in the past.

Thanks for the reply. I finally just cloned the HDD from the old one, worked.
