Inserting DVD/CD Causes Computer Freeze!

When I insert a dvd/cd into my computer (a pioneer dvr-111d) it sometimes freezes my computer and I can’t get out of it. Alt-Ctrl-Del doesn’t work, the mouse doesn’t even move, so the only way to get out of it is to hit the reset button.

It doesn’t matter if the disc is a DVD or CD or -r -rw +r +rw or stamped disc.

I’ve posted similar problem before. Only connection that I can come up with is that this computer also has pioneer DVR-111D like previous computer with similar problem.

It depends mainly on what (crap) software is lurking in the background.

How can a expensive computer like that freeze?

chef is right… you must have some software in the background that is causing that… Do a Alt-Ctrl-Del to see the processes in your computer and look around…
