I’ve been struggling with one damaged DVD that has 1 glitch in 1 specific chapter. On my stand-aloneplayer it glitches for a couple of seconds at that point, then continues. but on a PC ( with powerdvd,) or with other rippers, they freeze when they hit this point.
If I try to copy directly in windows I get a CRC error.
Nowwith DVDDFab, it does slow to zero rip speed, but then it picks up again & keeps going & the result is very watchable on PC.
it’s not technically perfect because when I run DIVX converter on the VOB file- it fails, but I’m inpressed that DVDfab has auseablyrecovered a chapter that was previously unviewable on PC.
PS That was in DVD customise mode, I’ll be trying it next in DVd to mobile - generic to see if I can also get a viewable divx version of the problem chapter.
I buy lots of previously abused DVDs from BBuster and DVDFab’s ability to clean up bad discs amazes me. Discs that jump or skip in a standalone or PC are often perfectly restored in the backup. It is sometimes slow, but it does work. I would suggest running the mobile conversion from a VIDEO_TS folder rather than the original disc if it has bad spots like this.
