I'm kinda stuck with nero!

The story goes like this; Once upon a time… Oh! okay then straight to the point. I’m new to all this but have been quite merrily chugging along doing backups of movie dvds using xcopy to rip them and nero to burn them. Alas! today however, when Nero gets to the lead-out part at the end I get a message saying that the burning has failed and it doesn’t finish off the disc so I can’t play it! Any ideas as to what is happening? I haven’t changed any settings on nero at all. Ps. I have a Pioneer 107. I look forward to some much needed feedback and I am also willing to tolerate a certain amount of ribbing seeing as I am new, but plz someone help me!!!

#2

You say you havent changed Nero settings (by the way what version of Nero is it ?) but have you changed Media ? Even a new spindle of the “same” media may not actually be.

#3

Its version 6 of nero. I did start a different spindle of media but since then I have tried a couple of different types of media and they all get the same message. Its a real pain!

#4

What’s the error message?

#5

I can’t remember exactly but when it gets to the lead out part at the end of the disc and the buffering goes back down to 0% a message pops up saying burn process failed at 2.4 whatever it is again…lol

#6

I’m away to do another one. I did notice the ‘relax joilet’ box wasn’t ticked, if i remember correctly this should be ticked… yes? I’ll let u know how it goes and post a log if it doesn’t work

#7

Can be many things.

  1. Media
  2. Aspi layer
  3. High cpu usage
  4. IDE drivers.

Easiest to try is different media.

2nd is to ensure you aren’t doing anything else while burning.

3rd is probably a little more complex.
Change your ide controller to use standard MS IDE drivers.

4th is to try and reinstall your aspi layer.
Forceaspi is probably the easiest.
http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/SupportUtils/forceaspi17.rar

Restart you system, and use a rewriteable disc for testing

#8

I tried different media with no luck and I don’t do anything else while burning… as for options 3 and 4 I don’t have a scooby what you are talking about…lol… I’ve just had an other failure, if i posted the log would that help? I just haven’t changed a thing and it has just went all pear shaped :frowning:

#9

sure post your Nero log file so we can have a detailed look

I log coming up. Its the bit at the end I think.

You need to update your version of Nero.
6.0.0.0 had some bugs.
Get the newest version and try burning again!

#12

If that doesn’t work, you might also try moving your dvdrom to the other IDE chain.

#13

I have now read threads on other boards with the same problem and followed the steps that they took to get it working. Alas none of it works for me…lol… I have checked DMA ,uninstalled the nvidia driver and set it back to the MS one, changed media. changed the master/slave settings and as for downloading the latest nero update, I only have dial up and my connection would time out before I could download it (roll on broadband!). Its now going back to the shop to see if they can get it to work and I guess if it works there then I’ll be stuck with a dvd rewriter that for some reason has chosen to stop working on my system shrugs I’ll let u know how I get on at the shop

I can’t get that link to work. I can guess what it is though. So many thanks, I’ll try it later again. I dunno I have no luck, maybe its exceeded its bandwith or summat for the day. I took it back to the shop anyways and it will be Tuesday before I can get it back. They did say that I wasn’t alone in having problems with the 107 so I’ll wait and see

#16

You really need the updated version of Nero.

#17

I know its a radical approach but I went and built another computer and it all works fine now. I’m convinced it was some sort of software clash or some incompatibility with something on my other system that had been added. I restored back to a point when it was still working but that didn’t work either! I just couldn’t figure it out.

But thanks to all who took the time to reply and offer solutions. I’m a happy bunny again now!

#18

Same Problem here. Any solutions. PLEASE HELP.

TIA.

You really MUST upgrade your Nero to 6.3.x, the first 6.0.x series had major conflicts and bugs. The upgrade is free so there should be nothing stopping you.
