I'm at My Wits End with my Lite-On 1213S!

Can somebody please help me? I have tried for 3 weeks to burn a movie to my 1213S burner. I have tried different software (ICopyDVDs2, CloneDVD, 1ClickDVDCopy, DVD Shrink 3.2), I have tried different media (Memorex DVD+R 8x, Verbatim DVD-R 4x, Sony DVD+RW 4x, Ritek DVD-R 4x), enabled UDMA on both the hard drive and the burner, updated the firmware to version TSOD, put the burner as the slave on the secondary IDE channel, put the burner as the master on the secondary IDE channel, and upgraded Nero to the latest version. The burns always fail! They usually fail at about 8%. I have wasted 7 DVDs and then I decided to buy some DVD+RWs I took my burner in to PC Club, where I bought it, and they were able to burn 4 GB of data to it without a problem. I don’t know what else to do. I thought I would try unplugging my other DVD-ROM drive so that only the burner is on the channel. Also, I bought an ATA 133 cable and I thought I would replace the cable and try it. Other than that, I don’t know what to do. My friend said to increase the virtual memory on my machine. Would that help? Any suggestions would be very appreciated. I just want it to work! Thanks. Here is my Nero error log from last night:

Try flashing to 1633S firmware BS0G from CodeGuys’ webpage.

#3

Will it make my drive burn? If it doesn’t work, is it possible to restore the old firmware? What is teh CodeGuy’s website for this? Thanks.

#4

it might make it work, you would have to use onipatcher to enable cross flashing though,
post some kprobe scans if it will read the failed media,
do you have a virus scanner running i.e: “do you have a virus”
what is your cpu usage when burning your media
what is your motherboard make and bios revision
post some cdpeed write media graphs
all this info will help us help you

#5

It won’t read the failed media. I have a virus scanner and I disable it when I am burning DVDs. I recently (2 weeks ago) repartitioned my HD and reinstalled Windows 2000 Professional. I am not sure what the make of my motherboard is (I have an SiS chip). I have not revised my BIOS. I think the date on the BIOS when booting up says 4/25/2001. As for the media graphs, etc. I have to post those later (I am not at home). I appreciate the help!

#6

go here for the patcher Omnipatcher
then here for the 1633 firmware (it will make your 12x drive a 16x drive…neat huh!) Firmware

make sure you get the latest 1633 firmware BS0G and then make sure you load the extracted exe into the patcher (you probably will need winrar to extract it). then click on crossflash , autobitsetting and improved reading speed. save it again under a new name. like BS0Gpatched.exe then run that new exe to update your firmware.
you do not have to reboot afterwards either.
