I'm a little mistified about my DVD RW

Hi, This is my first post and I really admire this forum and all its members. Thank you all.
Anyway,
I Have Sony DVD RW DL. When i scan it to get the information i need about my dvd hard drive it says that its model is (SONY DVD RW DRU-810A). However, On the box and at the bottom of the DVD hard drive itself there is a sticker which indicates the serial number and all other stuff incuding the model (Sony DVD RW DRX-810UL) which is different than what i got from the scan and from the device manager as well.
Therefore i would like to know which model is correct, incase I wanted to update the firmware.

And one more thing. Is Firmware 1.0d newer than 2.0b ?

Note: My DVD RW is not internal, it’s external linked to the PC using USB Cable.

this is a capture from Nero Info Tool:

“Is Firmware 1.0d newer than 2.0b ?”

No. They run numerically. Check their website for the latest… get in a habit of it.

“Note: My DVD RW is not internal, it’s external linked to the PC using USB Cable.”

That is why it shows up as a DRX-810UL (external) and not a DRU-810A (internal).
The same thing happens when you put a Plextor burner in an external enclosure.
No problem, though.

I always use the internal Plextor firmware on my external drive.
If if was me, and they do not show one for the UL model, I’d just flash with the 810-A firmware.
Always works 4 me.

Thanks for replying…I’ve done some research and found that it is exactly what you said about the external and enternal models. About the Firmware, they do have a firmware for the External model (SONY DVD RW DRX-810UL) and for the enternal as well (SONY DVD RW DRU-810A). However, There is a difference between the firmware version of the external and the internal.
DRX-810UL (External) uses Firmware 2.0D
DRU-810A (Internal) uses Firmware 1.0D

So, which Firmware would you flash, if you were in my shoes?

Thanks again for your help…

Since you now have Firmware Version 2.0b,
you should flash to DRX-810UL (External) Firmware 2.0D.
