I can't find any threads discussing the Ilo DVDR05.
Does anyone own one? If so, please comment.
I got mine from Walmart the other day and thus far I can find no major problems. Of course you get what you pay for, and $98 is not much to pay. Unfortunately the next price increment is quite steep so upgrading becomes a difficult choice unless you absolutely must have certain features.
I miss the TV Guide On Screen feature I used with my VCR. However on occasions it failed to work and I lost my program. At least without it, you have to "hard code" in the Schedule, which should prove a lot more reliable.
Also the remote control is kinda dinky, so I am going to upgrade it. Does anyone have any recommendations for an inexpensive programmable universal remote with all the function keys needed to operate the DVDR05. I wrote tech support but they did not have any recommendations.
I compared the Ilo DVDR05 with a Philips DVDR610/05 that a friend bought a year ago and the Ilo DVDR05 bears an uncanny resemblance in terms of features. I suspect there is one huge manufacturer that OEMs their products to various re-branders.
Whatever the case, the Ilo DVDR05 is a direct descendant of the CyberHome 1600. After the experience with LiteOn and the DVDR04, it appears that Ilo moved to a different source.
Does anyone know what the differences between the DVDR05ZU and MU versions are?
Does anyone know who and where Ilo Technologies is? Their website (www.iloservice.com) does not give any information.
