Illegal request, invalid address for write

I’m using the DVDFab Platinum v 4.1.2.0 program. I’m not having the greatest luck with my Dual Layer burner (Sony DRU-820A). I can burn single layer disks just fine but the last 2 double layer disks failed to burn. I’m using Verbatim 2.4x disks and have the latest firmware upgrade for my burner. Here is the last error log:

This is twice in a row that I’ve gotten a log that said “Illegal request, invalid address for write” . Has anyone else had this problem or have any idea what this error could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is there a reason why you have not updated DVDFab to version 5.0.2.5 ?

#3

looks like the burn errors out towards the end.
Write started 3771552 sectors to write
Write error at 3114016 (16) - Code 05 21 02 [Illegal request, Invalid address for Write]

vso burn engine has not changed ( yet ) in v5. please try imgburn as burn engine. imgburn.com its free.

only change one setting in imgburn.

tools – settings – write – perform OPC before burn

be sure this is selected.

thanks

troy

I’m using ImgBurn now and haven’t had any problems. Other posts were saying the media was bad or maybe the burn rate was too high (but even at .7x I was having issues). Thanks for the help Troy. ImgBurn rocks.

the media was bad or maybe the burn rate was too high

i recommend ( pretty much cdfreaks standard ) only verbatim and taiyo yuden media.

also start out burning at 8x.

please visit forum.imgburn.com for more info on using imgburn.
also start out burning at 8x.
Not possible. The writer only supports these:

5/28/2008 6:19:48 PM info Available write speed: 6x, 4x, 2.4x

@ Gummigutta im just kidding

 well actually the writer supports:

DVD±R/+R DL/-R DL writing at 16x/8x/6x

.

but the writer/media is:

available write speed: 6x, 4x, 2.4x

.

so im sorry. you are burning dual layer. i only burn single layer and the dual layer is becoming more and more popular.

I still have no need for DL media as all the movies can be compressed easily to fit onto a single SL disc…this is usually easily accomplished by removing the worthless menus and special features (personal opinion of course) :). For the ones that require heavy compression I use DVDRB.

main movie ripper here, but i dont have the patience for dvd-rb. not knocking it, as ive used it a few times with good results.
