Nero is trying to set the booktype of a DVD-R disk to DVD-ROM.

This is just not possible , so you need to change the Nero options for booktype to probably Current recorder setting.

I’ve seen this issue wit this particular version of Nero several times before. It would be a good idea to update to 6.6.0.18. There’s a recent link for this & this version is preferrable to the latest V6 (6.6.1.4) as it uses a lot less memory.

The other problem is that the burners firmware probably doesn’t recognise the 16x media you’re using which is why 2.4x is the speed you’ve selected.

#3

Thanks for the help, i’ve done what you suggested but still got same problem.

Is there a solution to the firmware issue or should i just go back to using 4x media which i never had any problems with?

#4

Did you update Nero as well as that has fixed the booktyping error for others in the past?

Did you still get the booktyping error in the log file or just an illegal disc error?

You might find you’re better off with 8x media , as it’s an 8x burner , unless you can get a firmware update that includes some of the latest media.

#5

Yes updates nero, i don’t think iam getting the book typing error anymore.

Where would i get a firmware update from?, maybe i just stick to 8x media then.

OK the booktype error has now gone. That’s obviously the good news.

With Nero’s CD-DVD Speed , using the disc info tab , you can get some details about the 16x media you’re using, namely the Media ID. Let us know what it is.

I don’t know where you’d get a firmware update. It’s showing you’ve got version 4.60 of the firmware but NEC only shows 4.24 as being the latest.

I think it’s got to be 8x media or maybe Verbatim 16x media (4.24 shows these as being recognised.

You could perhaps PM Dee-27 to see what she knows about the 6500 as she & Liggy have modded firmware on their site for this drive.

Neither of the 2 firmwares I’ve found for the 6500 recognise this media. Clearly that’s the problem. It’s only the earlier 16x media that might be supported like the Verbatim I mentioned before.

As I said before it’s probably best to use 8x media with much more chance of the being recognised or the Verb 16x disks.

When getting new media try buying nothing larger than 10packs first.

#9

ok then, will stick to 8x media

Thanks for your help.
