Hello everyone!

Just plugged in my LiteOn iHAS 124 drive.
The problem is - it is not working.
The drive is not showing up in device manager, but it shows up in BIOS.
Tried to turn off the IDE drivers, but as my HDD is IDE it freezes and nothing happens.

Running on WinXp Pro 32-bit; AsRock P4V88+ ; VIA 8237.

I can open and close tray, but nothing else.

When I plug out HDD and try to run LIVE CD it also freezes.

Since the drive is SATA that should have nothing to do with your IDE HDD.

How are your SATA ports configured in BIOS? Make sure they’re not set up in RAID mode and try different settings.

A quick search on the net shows that your mobo has: 2 x SerialATA 1.5Gb/s connectors supporting RAID,0,1,JBOD, SATA HDD_Hotplug. Try setting your SATA ports as JBOD and see if that makes any difference. It might also be that since your mobo is quite old, the VIA chipset (I presume) used wasn’t meant to work with and doesn’t work with optical drives. Check your user manual for more details.

Already managed to fix it myself.
When I made this topic i misspelled and said, that my hdd was IDE, but it was SATA.
So I didn’t installed any sata drivers for my motherboard as already my hdd was sata. Last night tried to install orginal motherboard sata drivers and suddenly it showed up. :))
