iHAP422-98 downgrade firmware

I was looking for an answer to a question and found this nice forum - maybe you can help me.

I recently bought a Lite-On iHAP422-98with firmware 9WL1N. To be honest the only reason I have bought this drive was that I have read on http://www.daefeatures.co.uk that it can read into the lead-in and lead-out of a normal audio-cd - to get perfect cd rips. Today I found out (checked with EAC and dBpoweramp) that the dirve can neither read into the lead-in nor in the lead-out. So I thought this could be a firmware issue because the guy who published on daefeatures.co.uk that the drive can do both (lead-in and lead-out) used firmware WL1K. I also tried to downgrade my firmware with “Flash Utility 6.0.1” but it didn’t work. The program “Flash Utility” showed the error: Error writing FLASH to drive!

So right now to my questions:

  • How can I downgrade the drive Lite-On iHAP422-98 from firmware 9WL1N to WL1K
  • does anybody have the firmware WL1K (with Flash Utility I tried to downgrade from 9WL1N to WL1G, because I couldn’t find a working WL1K firmware online)
  • are there also other newer drives existing that can read into lead-in and lead-out??

Thank you so much in advance for answering.

I found it at a couple of places. The downloaded files were binary identical and passed a couple of virus scans. One site that it is at is http://www.firmwarehq.com/download_1700-file_WL1K.EXE.html. My problem is finding an iHAP422-98 9. If you know of where I can find one, please let me know.
