Hi there, i noticed that on all the cheap media that i have used the serial number on the discs has always been 'IFPI XXXX' (e.g. IFPI BD01).
Does anybody know why this is?
I Have noticed this on all the cheap discs from bulkpaq, mirror, moviestyle, laser and others.
The MID codes that were used on these discs were mainly Taiyo Yuden, but also MCC, and Prodisc codes too.
Quality scans of the discs show that these are most definetely not the same dye that is used on the genuine discs, i can also tell this because the dye is a different colour.
It would seem to me that this type of serial is used on all fake media as I have never seen this type of serial number used on any of my more expensive genuine DVD discs from TY, MCC, Ritek, CMC, TDK and prodisc. This could be an easy way of finding out if media is fake or not. Can anybody back me up on this?
Strangely I also noticed that the same type of serial is used on pressed dvd's (well at least all the ones i own anyway).
