IFO/BUP/VOB format, can't edit, help!

Hi, I’m looking for some help converting a video to a format that I can edit. My problem is as follows…

I bought a DVD of a recent indoor skydiving experience. The DVD consists of several IFO, BUP, and VOB files. I’ve been trying to edit the video in several different programs (muvee, mydvd basic, windows movie maker) and it isn’t working. In mydvd basic it says that 29 minutes of film have been loaded, but only the first 28 seconds will play and I can’t divide it into chapters. When I open the movie to set the chapters it shows the whole 29 minutes, but it freezes whenever I try to save the chapters. Muvee and Windows Movie Maker won’t detect the whole movie either (only those first 28 seconds) yet it plays in it’s entirety in windows media player and on my dvd player.

I just want to be able to take clips of the video and combine them with photos to make a personalized movie.

I’ve tried changing the file name from .VOB to .MPG too and that doesn’t help the cause.

Can anyone help me!!??

Coincidentally, there’s is nice tool named VobtoMPG…

Use it to merge your VOBs to a single .mpg file, and import that in an editing app…
There’s also Avidemux…
