IDX Subtitles and me ... love/hate

I recently went to download subs for “Death Note” the Japanese live version of the Anime. Unfortunately, the only download i could find that had subs included only has IDX subs …

My question is this: Are these and good? And if so, how do I burn them onto a DVD with the movie (which is 2 CD’s AVI format)?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Here are a couple of links that might help:

You should be able to use Vobsub, http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/subtitle_tools/vobsub.cfm, to convert the IDX to SRT.

Thanks, but it still doesn’t help with the format of the subtitles.

This is ridiculous, nothing out there can make use of the IDX subtitles? Nothing can convert them?

Have you tried Vobsub?

First combine your 2 CDs into one AVI. Rename your AVI and the IDX and SUB files to the same name. Then play the AVI in a payer that supports IDX/SUB and see if they line up properly. I have ffdshow and Vobsub installed, the subs show in both MediaPlayerClassic and MediaPlayer 11 for me.

I’ve got a feeling if you look harder you’ll find SRT subs out there.

Also as Whappo noted you can convert IDX/SUB to SRT with VobSub-> SubResync.

ConvertXtoDVD handles both types for DVD creation.
